The NIFTY 100 index value is calculated using the following formula:

Index Value = (Current Market Cap / Base Market Capital) x 1000

The current market cap represents the total market capitalization of the top 100 companies. Here, the market cap is determined using the free-float market capitalization method, where shares held by promoters, government, and trusts are excluded. It only considers shares held by the public.

The base market cap represents the market cap of 100 companies at the base period, i.e., 1,000.

To be a part of the NIFTY 100 index, the company must satisfy the following criteria:

• The company must be part of the Nifty 500 index.
• Companies should be listed for at least 1 month as of the cutoff date.
• The company should rank within the top 90 by full market capitalization.
• Full market capitalization should be at least 1.5 times that of the smallest company in the Nifty 100.
• The company is removed if its ranking by full market capitalization falls below 110 or if it is removed from the Nifty 500.
